The Lanier Mansion

The Lanier Mansion sits facing 2nd Street in Historic downtown, Madison, Indiana. It was built in 1844 by architect Francis Costigan. James Franklin Doughty Lanier hired him to design and build it.

It is one of the best examples of Greek Revival architecture in the country. Here are a few more photos that I have taken of the house and the property:

Many people chose this Historic sight for weddings, photo shoots, or to just sit and enjoy its beauty. It truly is one of the most amazing sights in Madison, Indiana.

Flowers

I love capturing the different types of flowers that bloom and grow on my property. Believe me there are a lot. They bloom at all different times of the year too. Here are a few that I have captured:

I LOVE flowers, ever year I try to grow new and different flowers and plants. I take care of them as I would my little children. Nurture them, feed them and care for them. I love the many different colors that they show from beginning to bud until the the final bloom as sat in. Its just magnificent. My all time favorite flower is a daisy. They are so beautiful and grow wild and free. That is how we should all live.

Why I photograph

I have been taking pictures for years now. I have just recently looked into editing my photographs. I love capturing nature scenes, to me it is a stress reliever, a calming down technique. I do not sell my photographs, but may down the road. My favorite photo to date is this one:

I took this photo at the farm that I am currently renting here in Jefferson Co, IN. It is so beautiful out here, so many lovely things out here to capture. I entered this photograph at the visit Madison website: visitmadison.org. They chose my picture as one of the winners for their Spring photo contest.

I take my camera everywhere that I go, because I never know when a photo may present itself to me. Plus I love to capture all memories that happen. Over the years I have dealt with a lot, personal and non personal stresses, and taking pictures is one of the best ways I have found that helps relieve this. I just grab my camera and go for a walk. Here are a few pictures that I have captured on these outings:

I also love capturing moments with my children too. You can never have too many photographs of your children, because you can always cherish those moments in a photo. Here are a few that I have taken:

So I just wanted to share with everyone, why I do this, I will continue to post my photos and a story behind the photos that I take. Everyone have a beautiful day and grab a camera, get outside, and enjoy nature and life!
